2014 Capital Fringe Festival: Now Thru July 27

The biggest, baddest, boldest Capital Fringe runs thru July 27, taking place in over 15 different venues in downtown DC with 140 performing groups. National Gallery of Art - Jazz in the Garden: Now thru Aug 29, 2014

The Jazz in the Garden Series begins its 14th season in May. The free concert series features jazz artists performing a wide variety of styles—salsa, blues fusion, xylophone, Afrofunk, and more—every Friday evening from 5:00-8:30 pm in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden.Food and Beverages - Guests may purchase food and beverages from the Pavilion Café and its carts located around the Garden or bring their own picnics. National Gallery of Art Film Series: Canyon Cinema 16mm: Thru August 31, 2014

San Francisco-based Canyon Cinema Foundation has amassed one of the foremost collections in North America of artist-made, independent, and avant-garde film — a veritable archive of American experimental cinema during the last fifty years. For this year’s edition of the Gallery’s summer preservation festival, eight programs of new and archival film prints survey the exceptional legacy and cultural vitality of Canyon, from its beginnings in 1960 (in filmmaker Bruce Baillie’s backyard) through the present day. The Art League's 60th Anniversary Celebration

In 2014, The Art League will celebrate 60 years of bringing the arts to the community through their school, gallery, store, and outreach programs. Through several moves, the founding of the Torpedo Factory, and a huge expansion in the number of people they serve, The Art League remains dedicated to nurturing the artist and enriching the community.The kickoff 60th Anniversary event will be Thursday, January 9 in the Gallery.
