Jill Tanenbaum and Cathy Abramson
Tanenbaum and Abramson showcase glassworks and paintings that feature the colors, shapes, and energy found in and around urban settings. One can feel the pulse of a city in the work of both of these women. Tanenbaum’s glass pieces are often inspired by the people, experiences, and visions she observes in urban environments at home and abroad. She likes to “quilt” together many images and techniques that when fused tell a story. Abramson’s paintings focus on people in neighborhoods in transition. “A single moment in time” comes to mind when one views her work, as each image appears to freeze-frame a whir of urban activity and offers the viewer a chance to reflect on that moment’s juxtaposition with and application to other locations, cultures, and activities.
