Construction Tour: 1900 N Street
Join AIA|DC's Emerging Architects Committee and the SEAMW-YMG for a construction tour of 1900 N Street. The building marks the gateway between Dupont Circle and the Central Business District, and make a dramatic design move--with a third of the building being hung from a steel truss, allowing a fully glass corner lobby to be column free. The truss is encased in a glass architectural embellishment which celebrates the feature structural element, and is clad in bright red FRP panels to further highlight the element. The building also features innovative design, such as a Dedicated Outdoor Air System, a high performance curtainwall system, and penthouse amenity that takes advantage of the new zoning rules.
During this tour, participants will learn how the design and construction team (FOX Architects, KPF, DeSimone Consulting Engineers and Harvey Cleary) worked together to realize the complex structure of the truss and hanging floors as well as the design concepts behind the larger building.
A brief presentation from the design team will be followed by a tour of the building.
