Poets, Painters and Dreams inspired by Marc Chagall, Sara Teasdale & Langston Hughes
An afternoon of music and dance, inspired by the works of poets and painters, that features the DC premiere of two exciting new works: Michael John Trotta's A Breath of Ecstasy, a lush, lyrical work based on the timeless words of poet Sara Teasdale. In Where Dreams Fly, William Averitt's colorful and exuberant score inspired by seven Marc Chagall paintings, you will enter a world of whimsical fantasy.
The capstone of the program is Dreams, a musical setting of three Langston Hughes poems by Christopher Urquiaga, an exciting young Washington, DC composer who recently headlined his debut performances at Blues Alley and Signature Theater.
