In celebration of Lincoln’s birthday, we present a program focusing on the monument built to honor the 16th President and the artist who created the statue for the Lincoln Memorial, Daniel Chester French. Monument Man is the first comprehensive biography of this fascinating figure and his illustrious career. With images projected on screen, author and Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer will join in conversation with Howard University Professor of History, Edna Greene Medford to explore the life of French, whose evolution ran parallel to, and deeply influenced, the development of American sculpture, iconography, and historical memory. A book signing will follow the program.
