For three weeks in September, beer-fueled debates in the bars of Grand Rapids, Michigan, are focused on art, not politics or sports. Thousands arrive for ArtPrize, a competition and fair that allows ordinary people to engage with blue-chip artists in ways that rarely happen at more established venues like Art Basel.
