Author and diplomat James Ford Cooper worked at the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki during the Cold War, first as Political Counselor and later as Deputy Chief of Mission. He was subsequently Director of the State Department Office of Northern European Affairs. Mr. Cooper’s discussion about Finland and the Cold War is on an important topic given the current international political situation.
