Nothing good grows in the dark. This workshop will explore the importance of light in a garden and the life cycle of plants, using as examples tobacco and corn--mainstays in the cultural past of early settlers along the Anacostia. Participants will learn the properties of sunlight and the proper amounts of sun exposure needed for growing a healthy garden. Workshop participants will conduct a simple science experiment to explore the importance of light to the successful development of their gardens.
