In the 1960s and early 1970s, residents from Brookland and around the Greater Washington area united to defeat a freeway project that would have required the demolition of peoples’ homes and communities. Today, rapid gentrification and the possibility of Beltway Expansion bring new opportunities and challenges to the DC region. Join community members, organizers, and policymakers for a lively discussion about the past and future of equitable development efforts.
