Alive Inside: A Story of Music & Memory
Alive Inside is a joyous cinematic exploration of music’s capacity to reawaken our souls and uncover the deepest parts of our humanity. Winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award, this stirring documentary chronicles the astonishing effects of music on individuals experiencing memory loss. It follows numerous visionaries in healthcare, including social worker and founder of the nonprofit Music and Memory Dan Cohen as he fights against a broken healthcare system to demonstrate music’s ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it. The film also features illuminating interviews with experts such as renowned neurologist and author Oliver Sacks; healthcare professionals Dr. Bill Thomas, Dr. Al Powers, Naomi Fiel; and musician Bobby McFerrin. Followed by a panel discussion with experts from Montgomery Hospice.
