This 19th-century treasure is rarely performed in its entirety and, after treating our audiences to the Grand Pas in 2016, the company now brings the U.S. premiere of its lavish new full production.

Ballet and Nutcracker fans are in for a treat Thanksgiving week with the Kennedy Center debut of Atlanta Ballet and its extraordinary new production, which premiered last December. Washington audiences will be the first to see it outside of Atlanta—a truly spectacular, visually inventive staging set against a fantastical starry night, dominated by oversized storybooks, clocks, and constellations.

Scottish Ballet: The Crucible

May 13 - 17, 2020

Scotland’s national dance company returns, fresh from its 50th anniversary season, with another time-honored drama you wouldn’t necessarily expect on the ballet stage. Arthur Miller’s classic play about the Salem witch trials becomes a riveting, brand-new ballet that makes the story as relevant today as when it was first written. Washington audiences will be the first in the U.S. to experience it.

Bolshoi Ballet: Romeo and Juliet

June 2 - 7, 2020

The Bolshoi’s incomparable stars immerse themselves in Shakespeare’s enduring tragedy of star-crossed love. Danced to Prokofiev’s richly cinematic score, Alexei Ratmansky’s version shines with the characteristic style that audiences have come to adore from him: quick steps, vigorous lifts, and surprising dashes of humor. Washington is the only U.S. city lucky enough to host Romeo and Juliet.
