The genius of the young Brahms prompted Robert Schumann to envision “new paths” in the future of music, and his wife Clara lived to see the fulfillment of Brahms’ promise. We present works by these two lifelong friends, as well as music by Hindemith and J. S. Bach, two master craftsmen who forged new pathways with their innovations in harmony and structure. Featuring National Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Nurit Bar-Josef, NSO principal violist Daniel Foster, and Chiarina artistic directors, cellist Carrie Bean Stute and pianist Efi Hackmey.
