Starting with a look at the musical-historic complex of contemporaneous composers with an interesting and direct Beethoven connection, such as A.P. Heinrich (the “American Beethoven”) and Carl Czerny. The second part will include encounters with materials related to the psychological effects of Beethoven’s legacy on subsequent composers of stature, like Brahms and Wagner.
