This class focuses on preparing the actor for musical theatre audition and performance, through careful attention to each actor/singer’s strengths and weaknesses. Emphasis will be on music and text interpretation, singing and performance techniques, relaxing and unleashing the voice, and selection of strong material. Students bring at least one memorized musical theatre song to the first class, and will work on several songs over the six weeks of the course. Special attention will be given to the video audition, which was becoming more common before COVID, and will probably be even more common now.
