Artes de Cuba at The Kennedy Center May 8-Jun 3, 2018

For two weeks this spring, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will present Artes de Cuba: From the Island to the World, a festival celebrating the artistic richness that has emerged from this "island archipelago in the sun." This unprecedented gathering of Cuban and Cuban American artists represents some of the world's greatest from the island and the Diaspora.

Jazz in the Garden at the National Gallery of Art: May 18 - August 24

Kicking off on Friday, May 18, the National Gallery of Art's 2018 Jazz in the Garden lineup features acclaimed musicians presenting a wide variety of jazz styles—swing, funk, hip-hop, Latin, go-go, ska, Dixieland, blues, and more. National Cherry Blossom Festival: March 17-April 15, 2019

The National Cherry Blossom Festival commemorates the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo to the city of Washington, DC. Spanning nearly four weeks the festival includes parades, fireworks and performances honoring the lasting friendship between the US and Japan. Positive Barbarism: Brutal Aesthetics in the Postwar Period
Hal Foster, Princeton University

The A. W. Mellon Lectures in the Fine Arts were established in 1949 to bring to the people of the United States the results of the best contemporary thought and scholarship bearing upon the subject of the fine arts.
The six lectures in this series will be video recorded. A screening of the recording will be shown the Wednesday after each lecture in the East Building Large Auditorium at 12:00 p.m.
